ELSKE May 22 enroute to Marathon

Cell phone service across Florida Bay: No AT&T service from just south of Cape Romano to 16 miles N of Sawyer Bank N 24.59.89 W81.14.54 (momentary cell coverage enough for one email from Craig Anderson sent at 1:15...then gone again.)

E network 2 bars now at N 24.58.85 81.14.07 - email not downloading but texts coming across ... What is that about?

3G cell phone coverage back at N 14.56.39 W 81.12.79...WAHOO!!

N 25.01.88
W 81.16.12
About 20 miles out from Marathon,
We must have experienced current flowing from Florida Bay into the Atlantic ocean as the seas felt much choppier with small whitecaps despite little increase in winds coming out of the SSE. ELSKE is blazing along at 9.5 knots...the record so far for this trip. We are glad the current is with us, not against us.

FYI ...Sawyer light is REALLY hard to see from any distance...2.5 flashing, white, 16 ft (5m).

Now docked at Marathon Yacht Club N 24.42.9 W 081.05.5 for the night. Friendly folks...free hot dog dinner... Got to show off ELSKE...David did some waxing on "Family Time" for our new friends, Kaleen & Dave Dixon of Destin FL, also Abacos bound.

Bahamas bound aboard ELSKE
