Good Morning Boaters!
24 hours and counting down to Bahamas Blast '11! Yesterday was a frustrating day for the Captain, crew and maintenance staff of Captain Morgan. AC repair (Captain Eddy's) began @ 9:30 a.m and was completed by noon. COOL air is definitely something we take for granted in our houses AND on our boats! From the prior day's "run" a very loud alarm was also discovered, delivering that dreaded ERROR CODE. (which of course only the MOST skilled of mechanical techs know after they scour THEIR pcs in a trouble shooting mode.!) Our Guru from Cummins arrived mid afternoon dedicated to fix our problem. (really???? on a Friday afternoon?????? WOW! but could it be TRUE?) After diagnosing our error code as a "stuck trim tab", then the games of repair began. It was a grueling 7 HOURS of technical difficulties, but at 9:30 P.M. , the "situation" was finally remedied. A test run today on the boat will hopefully confirm success!!!!!!! But KUDOS to the most dedicated mechanical technicians and their consulting partners (through Marine Max) for their persistence in problem solving. We've ALL had experience with those technicians that were not quite so stellar in their work ethic but we hit the jackpot when we needed it the most! There now- I hope that we are THROUGH with our pre-cruising "hiccups" and are on to smooth motoring. Now I just need a GURU to assist in loading the massive quantities of liquid/solid provisions and clothing for 3 people for 16 days. (Do they make a dock box to be be strapped on TOP of the boat?????) We're novices at a cruise of this length so we are just hoping for the best in planning strategies! See you at the docks today!
