GHYC Parties at Conch Inn - May 31
As is well known, GHYC LOVES to PARTY. 6 PM dockside, everyone shows up with hors d'oeuvres and drinks. The conversation was lively and the food quickly begins to disappear. The cruise leaders conducted a little bit of business with 3 questions:
What did we like that we want to continue to do?
What did we do that we should never do again?
What did we miss doing that we want to do next time?
At the party, the cruise leaders were surprised to received stunningly beautiful platters hand made here in the Abacos. A Great BIG THANK YOU from Jo & Greg, Jackie & David.
Tomorrow's adventure: Going to Elbow Cay.

Captain Morgan 3- BOARDED by the COAST GUARD!
As if 7 hours of the worst weather we've ever experienced on the water wasn't bad enough, a Coast Guard inflatable Gunship came out of nowhere with lights flashing aimed right for us. My first thought- HOLEY MOLEY, here comes the Po-Po! Through radio communication they announced that they were boarding the vessel for a safety inspection. What???? We had our STICKER from our recent Gulf Harbour inspection. Captain Morgan showed it to the two combat booted "officers"- but to no avail. (They also had holtstered WEAPONS!) Thank Goodness Tyler knew where the flares were because I had a certain amount of panic inside as two OTHER officers hovered in their vessel alongside. But after the 12 point inspection, they offered up two great places to eat dinner in Marathon. WHEW! Scary stuff but because of the previous GH inspection, Captain Morgan 3 passed with flying colors!

Captain Morgan 3
OMGOSH! The Morgans are finally connected! Still no cell service but we have internet AND cable here in Marsh Harbor-WOW! I also tried to contribute to the local economy here- within walking distance....but to no avail. Jackie Kelly and I had a nice walk during our pursuit of retail therapy! We also explored the Abaco Beach Resort where we found Carl Pierce and daughter Alli coming back from their pool swim-up-bar luncheon. Speaking of the Pierce daughters- Shelly, we miss you all ready- "filter" or not. (as does Ryan Seacrest!) Speaking of- Gary could care LESS about Ryan- it was "his girl"- Julieanne Hough- that made his heart skip a beat. We encountered JA and Ryan at the Deli @10p at Bakers Bay Resort and sent Shelley and Alli in as our "face team" to smoothe the way so Captain Morgan didn't seem like such a threat as he drooled over HIS "dancing/singing" star. The photographic evidence may not hit the blog- as it might need a little "airbrushing" but to the "girl who needs to get out more often" (Shelley)- it was ALL REAL! Hope that the Senior sister made it safely back to Denver! And also to our returning Christina- safe travels back and then on to Scotland! It was so nice to "rescue" you- what a FIND at the West End!
Marsh Harbour May 30
The fleet has arrived today at Conch Inn, Marsh Harbour. It was a short trip from Bakers Bay. A bit of rain helped the captains as they washed down their boats.

GHYC Parties at NIPPERS - May 29
Just about everyone from GHYC fleet made their way to NIPPERS during the stay at Great Guana Cay.
This is a genuine PARTY PLACE...beautiful water, loud music, Nippers Rum drinks with TERVIS TUMBLER, PIG ROAST. The mode of transport was golf carts.

Captain Shelley aboard BUCKAROO
It is Captain Shelley reporting in from Buckaroo in Guana Cay. Unfortunately the Conch sales from my vast 4 shell collection have been slower than expected - I guess it is a result of the downturn in the economy and not because of any marketing deficiency on my part. I don't want anybody to worry about my future during this difficult time, I met Ryan Seacrest last night and am pretty sure that he will leave his current beautiful dancer girlfriend for me and I will be able to close down my shell business and just enjoy the islands. I have thought about using any left over conch shells to make some stilts for my new boyfriend Ryan as I learned last night he is much shorter than he is handsome. Picture exists of our first meeting.....counting on the Morgans to provide said evidence.

Smiths have to head home.
We were sad to see Karen and Rick Smith leave this morning. It will be a long day for them with several modes of tranprtation: golf cart, ferry, taxi, three airplanes, and final drive home.
A little laundry this morning and then more exploring of Great Guana Cay via golf cart. Ending this afternoon at Nipper's for their Sunday pig roast.
Cheers, Gail & David B.

I think Capt. Al & Capt. Tom (Doc's Jewel) are on a quest to find the best boat washer in the islands. My $$ is on Shelly from Buckaroo. No wonder she is Capt. Karl's favorite daughter!!!

Local grocery store
The bread here is great. This is a typical store where you would buy it. It is sweet and baked locally.
Conch shells
So you want to buy a conch shell! In the Abacos they have to control where the fisherman dump them. You can stop along the road and load up your trunk. There are piles everywhere at west end.
Mary Lou & Craig ANDERSON celebrate their 51st Anniversary at Bakers Bay
Today is Mary Lou and my 51st anniversary, and we are at beautiful Bakers Bay. Had a celebration drink at Nippers. Back is getting a little better each day. Ryan Seacrest and Julie Huff are hosting a party here tonight. Everyone is on the watch. Going to Nippers on sun for the famous pig roast.

KISMAR & ELSKE Crew Tour New Plymouth
Shiela & Jimmy Johnston, Christina Russell, & Jackie & David Kelley spent a lovely morning touring New Plymouth. They toured the local History Museum where much was learned about the LOYALISTS settling the Abacos in 1783 after the American Revolution. They experienced a morning snack at McIntosh Bakery, hoping to meet up with fellow Scots. Jackie tried VitaMalt, a non-alcholic malt and hops concoction; the others were more sensible. Afterward they had a brief glimpse of the ocean-side beach before returning to the boats. They traveled aboard a rented golf cart and arrived back at their boats safely thanks to Jimmy's expertise driving on the left hand side of the road (as in Scotland).
